Intermediate Mechanical Design Engineer
Location: Guelph, Ontario, Canada

As a member of the RWDI Group of Companies, Motioneering Inc. specializes in the field of applied structural dynamics, motion control, and design & construction of damping systems. We have over 25 years of global experience implementing these unique and challenging projects from concept to completion.

 

Do you have the knack for bringing a unique mechanical vision to reality?  Do you get excited when using your strong grasp of mechanical systems, physics, and design to develop a practical solution?  If so, Motioneering needs your help in supporting our continuous development of damping systems.

 

Motioneering is looking for an enthusiastic, experienced mechanical engineer with extensive real-world, hands-on experience to help grow our world-wide damping services.  

 

This role includes but is not limited to:

  • Solving challenging design problems working in concert with engineering staff, fabricators, suppliers and clients;

  • Planning and coordinating technical aspects of assigned projects including conceptual through detail design, testing, and production;

  • Ability to complete general design hand calculations;

  • Extensive experience in SolidWorks, both 3D and 2D;

  • Experience with using FEA to analyze assemblies with complex geometry; and

  • Occasional international travel to job sites will be required.  Site work could include working at heights and confined spaces (regular training provided).

 

We are accepting applications from candidates with the following qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s level Mechanical Engineering degree with a minimum 7 years of applied experience in bringing mechanical designs from sketch to production;

  • Existing, or eligible for, registration with the Professional Engineers – Ontario (P.Eng.);

  • Demonstrated aptitude for developing novel designs with comprehensive supporting documentation including extensive experience with SolidWorks, hand calculations, etc.;

  • Understanding of mechanisms and applied physics including how a tuned mass damper uses stiffness and damping to control motions;

  • Proven ability to simultaneously handle, prioritize and include a multitude of design constraints into a final optimum design;

  • Strong people and team skills with a proven ability to liaise with engineering teams, clients, fabricators, and suppliers;

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;

  • Possess a valid driver’s license and passport and be able to travel internationally without restrictions;

  • Practical, get-your-hands-dirty aptitude demonstrated through work or hobby experience; and,

  • Experience with SolidWorks Simulation, Simulia and PDM would be an asset.
